Port Blair

The capital of Andaman and Nicobar, Port Blair is the perfect secluded beach destination with a touch of adventure. This beautiful island town is situated on the east coastal area of South Andaman Island, featuring nature in the form of glittering beaches, swaying palm groves, turquoise blue sea. Port Blair is a rich amalgamation of myth, colonial and tribal history. Explore the Cellular Jail or Kala Pani to revisit the bygone era. Located close to Port Blair, the Ross Island is another must visit attraction here. It was once the capital to the British from 1858 to 1941. This small island provides picturesque views of the surroundings. The place houses the ruins of a British church, chief commissioner’s house, graveyard of the British and few other important landmarks.

The Anthropological Museum is another must visit attraction for the ethnography enthusiasts. Started in the year 1975-76, the museum offers an insight to four Negrito tribes of the Andaman, namely - Jarawas, Sentinelese, Great Andamanese and Onges. There are other museums as well like - Fisheries Museum, Samudrika Museum, Zoological Survey of India Museum.

What makes Port Blair one of the most desired destinations is the presence of beaches. The Corbyn's Cove Beach is one of the busiest and most popular beaches of the region. The beach is perfect for activities like - swimming, surfing and sun basking. Apart from this, North Bay Beach, Chidiya Tappu, Mundapahar Beach, Wandoor Beach are also among the prominent beaches of Port Blair.

Madhuban is the ideal place for activities like trekking and bird watching. One can spot exotic endemic birds, animals and a number of butterflies here.
