Rameswaram Tourism

Renowned as one of the pilgrim centres of India, Rameshwaram is located in the district of Ramanathapuram in Tamil Nadu. Visited by a number of pilgrims throughout the year, it is among the Char Dham pilgrimages in the country. Besides the Rameshwaram Temple, other famous temples here are Agnitheertham, Gandamadana Parvatham, Dhanushkodi, and Kothandaraswamy Temple.

Another famous tourist attraction is the Jada Tirtham, known among the Hindu devotees for its sacred pond. Lakshmana Tirtham is another divine space close to Ramanathswamy Temple. Another popular religious destination of Rameshwaram is Villondi Tirtham where Lord Rama dipped his bow into the seawater to quench Sita’s thirst.

Glass boat ride at Pamban Bridge, Rameshwaram is another popular attraction here. Adam’s Bridge or Rama Setu is another beautiful site that must not be given a miss. The historic bridge connects Rameshwaram island of India to the north western coast of Sri Lanka. The Ariyaman Beach, located on the side of Palk Bay is another major tourist hotspot.

Another attraction you should not give a miss is the Sea World Aquarium, which is home to a vast variety of sea creatures like octopus, snake fish, lion fish, rabbit fish, parrot fish, sea lizard, clown fish, crab, lobster, prawn, beach tamet, shark and many more.
