Another famed attraction of Mysore is the Karanji Lake, which flows at the foot of the renowned Chamundi Hills. The lake is home to numerous migratory birds, making the place a delight for all the bird watchers. Those seeking a perfect wildlife encounter must visit the Shri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens. This is one of the oldest zoos in the country, and one can spot some stunning range of species here.

Those with the religious inclination can visit the Somnathpur Temple. Built by the Hoysala rulers, the temple unveils some of the great facts about the bygone era. The main attractions of the temple are the three shrines, three sanctums, a navranga and three stylishly carved pinnacles.

Another renowned holy shrine of Mysore is the Chamarajeshwara Temple. Standing as a memorial of Sri Jayachamarajendra Wodeyar, the temple exhibits two mantapams, including the Muukha-Mantapa and the Nandi Mantapam along with a sanctum.

Those who wish to experience the culture and history of Mysore must pay a visit to the famous Folklore Museum. Exhibiting magnanimous collection of artworks and crafts, the museum is known for housing around 6500 folklore articles on display, which make it one of a kind in Asia.
